POLICY REGARDING REQUESTS FOR PLACEMENT
OF PLAYERS ON TEAMS
PREAMBLE
The West Shore Soccer Club is dedicated to providing a high quality soccer experience
for all children enrolled in the program. It is with this in mind that the following
policy has been adopted to ensure that intramural and recreational teams are “built”
as evenly and equitably as possible.
The assembling of teams is at the very least a challenging proposition and many
factors come in to play when the teams are assigned. The most important of these,
however, is to build intramural and recreational teams that are composed of players
with varied skill levels so that all teams have an equal opportunity to achieve
success and develop in their soccer skills.
In order to assemble these teams equitably, it is helpful for the club to be able
to assess all players in the spring prior to building the teams. All parents are
highly encouraged to bring their children to the “placement sessions” so that an
evaluation of their skill ability can be made. The more children that we are able
to evaluate, the better prepared we will be to put together equal ability teams
and consequently, provide a fun experience for all players.
POLICY
Requests for players to be assigned to a specific team or with another player or
to a specific coach will be accepted ONLY with a letter detailing the need for this
request. The letter must contain specific documentation as to why the request is
being made. The letter is to be forwarded to the appropriate registrar and ALL letters
will be reviewed by the West Shore Soccer Club Board of Directors for subsequent
approval or denial. Letters failing to demonstrate need (rather than convenience)
will not be approved. Requests made without submission of a letter outlining the
need for the request will not be honored.
